SHAME!

April 2, 2008 · 1 Comment

If you go to the University of Toronto, you’ve probably heard about the ridiculous protest that took place in the President’s Office two weeks ago. Students, including some from the student unions (and some people external to the University) sat in the hallways of the office, refused to leave and to let anybody out until they met with the President, complained about stuff in the range from residence fees to the “Israeli Apartheid”, and accused the campus police of “brutality” when (according to a President’s memo) it came to lift some of them, after three hours of protest, to allow staff to leave.

Yesterday, The Varsity (a U of T newspaper) transcribed part of what was said in the protest as an April’s Fools Day editorial. As the blog Torontoist, which covered the story, put it: “The editorial—photo caption and all—skewers the protestors the most effective way possible: by simply quoting them”. You can find the editorial at the Torontoist blog.
