Advice for people applying to grad school

danah boyd posted some good advice for people thinking of grad school (this is the time of the year major universities are receiving applications). I should have read something like this in 2002 when I started sending my grad school applications: Back then I really had no idea what I was getting into, and I’m only happy as a grad student because I got lucky in several ways -the story could’ve been different quite easily.

If you’re thinking of applying, make sure to read the comments on that post as well -there’s good advice there too.
